Youth Court Judge: There is a dire need for foster homes across Miss.

From WCBI TV - A Mississippi county youth court judge has weighed in on the issue of the lack of placements for foster care children in the state.

According to a story in the Tupelo, Miss. TV station, WCBI, Lee County Youth Court Judge Staci Bevil said the neglected subject has created a “crisis state.”

Noting that the Mississippi Department of Child Protective Services  (CPS) has around 4,000 children in custody – 179 alone in Lee County, the need to find foster homes is increasingly vital.

Some in the public will say the issue it one that the CPS must correct, but the judge said the community needs to step up and help.

This “is a community problem, these children in these families go to school with your children, worshiping with your children, they are living life every day in our communities, it is a community problem,” Bevill said.
